Madrigal Madness
ARTEK singers join with ARTEK’s 2026 Young Artist Fellows to perform Monteverdi’s 1587 First Book of five-part madrigals. The 19-year-old Monteverdi wrote in the dedication that these youthful compositions need “no other praise than that which is usually given to the flowers of spring, compared with that given to the fruits of summer and autumn”. Barbara Russano Hanning will speak as well on the poetic context of each madrigal.
