Reincken and Bach
Johann Adam Reincken was the most important musician in Hamburg in the second half of the 17th century, and a great influence on the young Johann Sebastian Bach. As a teenager in Lüneburg from 1700-1703, Bach copied Reincken’s organ fantasia An Wasserflussen Babylon and arranged some of Reincken’s chamber music for keyboard. ARTEK performs selections from Reincken’s chamber music and harpsichord music, as well as ARTEK’s own versions of Reincken-inspired music of Bach. Cynthia Freivogel and guest Tekla Cunningham, violins; Arnie Tanimoto, viola da gamba; Daniel Swenberg, baroque lute; and Gwendolyn Toth, harpsichord.
Tickets: $15 – $25 – $50
