Peter Kupfer, violin, specializes in 17th- and 18th-century repertoire performed on period instruments. Following graduate studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, he returned to his native California where he began performing with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and other early music ensembles, and has since performed and recorded with American Bach Soloists, Apollo’s Fire, Aulos Ensemble, Four Nations, Handel & Haydn Society, Opera Lafayette, Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, Tafelmusik, Trininty Wall Street and Washington National Cathedral, among others. In New York, in addition to the American Classical Orchestra, where he has been a member of since its inception, he performs with ARTEK, Clarion, Concert Royal, Rebel, and the Sebastians. Festival appearances include Berkeley Early Music Festival, Monterey Jazz, Aston Magna, Mostly Mozart, Edinburgh, and the Maggio Musicale festival in Florence. He plays a violin by Matthijs Hofmans (Antwerp, 1690).
