Having been heard in opera, recital and concert throughout the United States and Europe, Tenor, Evan Katsefes has been described as a “gripping” performer with “excellent diction and intonation,” and “unfailing in communicating both words and music” (Classical Source). His operatic engagements in recent seasons include the roles of Tamino (Die Zauberflöte, W. A. Mozart), Phoebus/Summer (The Fairy Queen, H. Purcell) and Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi, G. Puccini), among others.
As a participant of numerous young artist programs at the Curtis Institute of Music, the Chautauqua Institution, and Classical Singing and New York in June, Evan has collaborated with and been taught by inspiring artists, who are luminaries in the international industry of classical music. The Summer of 2024 saw Katsefes as a Vocal Arts Fellow at The Tanglewood Music Festival, the Summer residence of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the Berkshires.
Katsefes is an undergraduate student at The Manhattan School of Music where he studies with Mark Schnaible. A student of Marlena Malas until her passing in December 2023, his mentors include soprano, Dawn Upshaw, Claudia Catania, Randall Scarlata and pianist, Donna Gill.
Evan’s time spent outside of his life in music is filled with adventurous travel, cooking, and supporting the arts in and around New York City, which he calls home.
