SUMMARY:Johann Christoph Bach: The Profound Bach
DESCRIPTION:Johann Christoph Bach was J. S. Bach’s older cousin\, the reigning star of the Bach family in the 17th century. His church music was expressive and highly virtuosic\, often with a soaring solo violin over beautiful vocal lines. ARTEK’s program features his most lauded works\, including the wedding cantata “Meine Freundin\, du bist schön” and the eloquent “Ach\, das ich wassers gnug hätte” lament. Musicologist Sara Ruhle Kyle will introduce us to the musical world of Arnstadt and J. C. Bach in Thuringia\, Germany.
